Bro. Eric Johnson grew up on the mission field in Huejutla de Reyes, Hidalgo Mexico. He later became a graduate of the Baptist Missionary Association Theological Seminary in Jacksonville, Texas. Bro. Johnson held the position as Associate Pastor of First Baptist Church, Jacksonville, 2004 through 2008. He then returned to Mexico to serve as Missionary in Pachuca, Hidalgo through April of 2016, when he was named Director of International Missions for our Baptist Missionary of America National Association. God began dealing with him about First Baptist Church for about a year. He and Kelly have both experienced God’s call and feel that God has led them to our church. He expressed to us that God’s call was not a general call to return to the pastorate, but was specifically to First Baptist Jacksonville.
Bro. Eric has extensive hands-on experience, not only in establishing new churches, but also in revitalizing existing congregations. His heart is in evangelism and discipleship, not only through leadership and training, but also through personal example. He and his wife, Kelly, have three children; Audrey, Matty, & Abram.
