What a privilege to serve the First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Texas. My primary focus, as interim pastor, is exposition of scripture and preparation for the church's next pastor. Exposition simply means seeking to expound or explain the original meaning of a sermon text as intended by its God-inspired, biblical author. In response, I pray that church members then apply those truths as faithful doers of the Word, both as individuals and then collectively as a local church congregation.
For those uncertain about their eternal destinies, I encourage them to consider biblical teaching that, while all people are sinners and deserve eternal punishment, God's gift of eternal life is offered freely through His Son, Jesus Christ (Romans 3:23 and 6:23). Eternal life is a gracious gift from God through faith and not by works of righteousness that people do (Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5). Once a person receives that gift personally, he or she should then begin living a life that reflects his or her gratitude by following Christ as Lord of his or her life and repenting/turning from sin.
I extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in finding a church with friendly people and a growing desire to follow the Lord. Please feel free to attend any of our services, or contact the church office for more information.
